Global Pricing & Costing Software Development

Program Objective

A global technology company required a comprehensive new web-based pricing tool to consolidate existing tools and processes and expedite the company sales process, while ensuring acceptable metrics were being achieved. The custom tool has been developed as the Global Pricing and Costing Estimating tool for the corporation.

The Company requested Program Management and Consulting Services for the existing application environment and Go-Live project phase. These services included the coordination of Change Management (DevOps Operations), Software Development, Quality Assurance, and Technical Oversight.

Program Strategy and Results

After gathering business requirements and stakeholder expectations, our Program Management Team quickly stabilized the current environment and aligned all required parties to a common go-live plan to ensure a successful ramp up of the end-users to start working with the environment. Our Team provided oversight to introduce and realign agile processes and re-engineered the software architecture to enable a cloud-based deployment on AWS.

Our Team’s services and collaboration with respective parties included the management of all changes being introduced to the software application and environment. Changes were introduced because of an incident (e.g., software bug), usability change requests, process or requirement changes, etc. All changes were analyzed and specified for the software development and/or the DevOps team. The installations or configuration changes of new software or the environment were coordinated with the Company’s operations team. Our Team incorporated Quality Assurance and DevOps Services within the Change Management process to accelerate and enable a faster and increased service quality by automating the deployment processes and executing defined regression test scenarios as part of each installation or environment change. Each step was closely monitored and controlled, followed by proper tracking and documentation of any changes to the application and environment.

Key Takeaways

  • Business requirements, user needs, and technology fit should be periodically reassessed.

  • User satisfaction and usability should be a measure of success.

  • Users’ skills gaps must be addressed when introducing a new application.

  • Agile methodologies achieve results and business alignment.
